Rila

Rila is one of the best things Bulgaria has to offer. It is a huge national park 50km+ across most of which is public right of way throughout. It is also very varied. You can get anything - alpine slopes, alpine meadows and truly fairy-tale like wood.

It can be described by one word - stunning. Especially in autumn. It is truly the country of the Fairy Queen. This is also the way other parts of Bulgaria like the Rodopa mountains used to look like before they were destroyed by real estate fraud and illegal logging.
